Whether you will have to pay tuition fees for higher education as a refugee depends on your protection status.

There are three different protection statuses. Please note which is your status, because this is going to determine whether you will have to pay tuition fees or not.

The 3 different protection statuses are:

Convention Status (Mmf – 7.1) – “2 års midlertidig opholdstilladelse med mulighed for midlertidigt ophold.

Individuals granted convention status fall under the protection of the UN Refugee Convention, which defines a refugee as someone who, owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his/her nationality.

Prior to an extension being granted, it will be assessed whether the individual still warrants continued protection.
